Crispy Sabudana Vada without onion and garlic that can be had as evening snack. Since shallow fried can be had with out any guilty even by elders on any day.

Ingredients

  • Sabudana / javarisi –  5 table spoons
  • Beaten Rice Flakes / Poha / Aval  –  5 table spoons
  • Boiled and mashed potatoes – 3 small size
  • Ginger paste  – 2 tea spoons
  • Green Chilies – 3 nos
  • Cumin seed Powder – ½ tea spoon
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves –  1 cup
  • Besan Flour / Kadala maavu – 1 table spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

Preparation

Step1

Soak the Javirisi /Sabudana for 8 hours or  overnight.

Step2

Place the soaked sabudana in a colander and rinse off the water. Wash the Poha /  Aval in water and place in a colander. Squeeze the water out and put the Poha with the sabudan.

Step3

Add all other ingredients except oil to the bowl and knead well to dough and make lemon size balls of it.

Step4

Heat Kuzhi Paniyaram / Appe pan. Grease each crater with 1/4 tea spoon of oil. See to it that the oil is well spread over each pan.

Step5

When the pan is hot enough place the vadas in to the crater and keep the flame to medium. Wait for 3 to four minutes and gently roll the balls enabling them to cook all around and gets brown color uniformly. After 5 to 6 minutes take them out and serve hot with any sauce or chutney of your choice.
