Pesarattu (Moong Dal Crepes)

Pesarattu, also known as moong dal dosa, is a regional breakfast of Andhra Pradesh. Unlike normal dosa batter, pesarattu doesn’t need to be kept overnight for fermentation.

Ingredients

  • 500 gm green moong dal
  • 100 gm raw rice
  • 4 green chillies
  • 20 gm ginger
  • 25 gm garlic
  • 20 gm cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  • Step1

    Combine green moong dal and rice  and soak in water for 3 hours.

  • Step2

    Grind the mixture with green chillies, ginger, garlic, cumin seeds and turmeric to a fine batter. Season with salt.

  • Step3

    Take a spoonful of the batter and spread it thinly on a heated and greased tawa. Cook until until the bottom is browned and flip over to the other side. Serve hot with any relish of your choice.
