Boil water, add salt to taste and dip the crab pieces in the boiling water. Once the crab is cooked, remove from the water and keep it aside.
Heat oil in a kadai. Add the ginger and garlic paste and saute till the raw smell goes away.
Add sliced onion and green chillies. Saute well.
Add tomatoes to the mix. Once the tomatoes are cooked, add salt, chilli powder, coriander powder and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and stir well.
Once the gravy thickens, add pepper powder. Now add the cooked crab pieces to this gravy and stir well for 2 to 3 minutes until the pieces are coated by the masala.
Add water and cook for some more time. Once the gravy thickens, turn off the stove. Add a pinch of pepper powder, and garnish with curry leaves and a drizzle of oil.
