Clean and chop the chicken into small pieces.
Marinate the chicken in salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder and coriander powder. Transfer this to a pan and cook along with the coconut pieces until the chicken is done. Add water in case the chicken does not release enough water for it to cook.
Coarsely pound the shallots/ chopped onions along with red chilly in a mortar and pestle.
Heat the oil in a flat pan. Add the ground shallots and chilly mix. Fry this for 3 minutes on medium flame. Add the cooked chicken without any water. Pan fry the mix until the chicken begins to brown lightly. Adjust salt.
Serve with rice or roti of your choice.
